Unlike other "panning" knobs, it doesn't just control the balance between the right/left signal - it truly pans the signal, even stereo. This has many advantages:

• Mono signals don't get quieter at the sides.
• When panning a stereo signal, the opposite side doesn't disappear - it gets panned, too!
• And by the way: However you pan a signal, it keeps its perceived volume!
