🔵 PAN L/R – THE TRUE PAN KNOB

"It's just a pan knob! What's so special!?"

This is a real pan knob. It doesn't just control the balance between the right/left signal - it truly pans the signal, even stereo. This has many advantages:

  • Mono signals don't get quieter at the sides.
  • When panning a stereo signal, the opposite side doesn't disappear - it gets panned, too!
  • And by the way: However you pan a signal, it keeps its perceived volume!

⚫ QUASI-BINAURAL MODE

You can switch to 'Binaural Mode' to simulate the way sound waves travel around the head - creating a more immersive feeling of space. If a sound comes from the left, it will first reach the left ear and the right ear just a few milliseconds later etc.

* Note that Binaural Mode is not fully mono compatible due to the small delays it introduces.

🔵 DIST Near/Far – THE DISTANCE KNOB

With the 'Distance' knob, you can make a sound seem more far away. It simulates the way air absorbs high an low frequencies differently. I also took into account the differences in percieved width and phase and works together with the panning knob and the reverb and adjusts the properties accordingly.

🔵 SPACE M/S – WIDTH CONTROL & STEREOIZER

If you turn it to the left you can make a sound more mono (middle signal stays constant in volume; just stereo information get's canceled) Turned to the right, it can make any sound (even mono signals) wider using a similar algorithm used in the 'Ozone Imagerby iZotope or 'Wider' by Polyverse. While with 'Wider' the side-delay is fixed and with the one by iZotope you cannot go above 20ms, SPACE CONTROL enables you to either just add subtle width - or really exaggerate it with values up to 80ms, making the delay audible, which might be useful for creative effect purposes. Another extra feature is the 'SPACE Low Cut'.

To make it 100% mono compatible, SPACE CONTROL uses phase-polarity-inversion to cancel out the added stereo information when played back in mono.

Pro-Tip: If you set the 'SPACE Type' knob to 1ms it will turn off the stereoizer function, so you are able to just boost the stereo information the signal already has.

Bug / Feedback Report:

While I try my best to make everything as good as I can from the start, I’m always looking for improvement. So if you have some suggestions on how I could improve this rack, experience any sort of bug or just would like to say hi, feel free to contact me at hey@nicolud.com.
Thanks a lot for your help! 🤗
